Late last night while wasting precious minutes of my life surfing through Facebook I came a across this article on Bullet Journal posted by Wall Street Journal. Immediately, intrigued by the article I
soon I got hold of a notebook, a pen and went online to get resources and ideas to kick start my own Bullet Journal. As I dug through the internet for more research, I was soon taken aback by the many creative people out there using this system and showing of their creativity by customizing it heavily with amazing illustrations and amazing penmanship.
So what is this Bullet Journal? In a nutshhell it is a simple yet highly customizable journal system for everyone. All one needs to start is by getting hold of a notebook and a pen. Additionally,the simple reason for it being able to cater to everyone is that there are just a few core parts to the system and there is no end to customizing these parts to ones need and one could also even build and add to it. These core parts of this system are the index, the future log, the monthly log, and the daily task list. First the index, is where all the sections sits. The beauty of the index is that it does not have to be in an order, as the user can add important sections as they go along. Think of it like a bookmark. Second, is the future log. Its where all the future plans or ideas go. A good rule of thumb is to ensure its not cluttered with to many plans or ideas. Third, is the monthly log, this is where the user organizes the month. For this section, a good practice is to have two pages one page for the dates and corresponding item and the next page the list of tasks for the month. Lastly the daily task list is where the magic happens.Tasks are listed relevant to the day and then added as intended as the user goes through the day.
In summary, I personally have gone through many note taking apps and written one to many notes on the paper reminding me of things to to do and failed miserably. Thus, after giving this a shot, for a day,I feel that this could really work out and help me be more efficient and productive.
